In this episode of the Brightech interview series, we caught up with a brilliant interior design blogger and home decorator Michele from Sweet Threads Design Co. She told us the story of how she built a farmhouse-style home from the ground up! She has taken on some pretty large projects all by herself with the help of her husband. And she also has a knack for flower designs. Check out her interview and projects below:
1. How many years have you been blogging?
2. What is your favorite Interior Design project that you’ve ever done?
Most definitely it was the shiplap fireplace with decorative tiles we added to our master bedroom! The whole project really made the space! We have a huge, long wall in our bedroom and the addition of the fireplace really warmed up the entire space and created depth and dimension! It is by far my most favorite custom feature in our home.
3. Which project are you most proud of?
Our whole house! Our home build was a huge project that took several years to complete! We are still putting the finishing touches on it! We are so proud of every square inch of this house and every detail was designed and completed by my husband and I.
4. What does a day in the life of an interior decor blogger look like?
It varies from day-to-day! I am always looking for new ways to share and inspire whether it be through a simple home project to how to style your coffee table to updating your space for a new season!
5. What kind of lighting do you have set up for your work?
We have a ton of natural light in our home which is so nice! I love using lamps in spaces to really warm up the space and its an easy detail to complete any side table. Also, lamps are easily interchangeable and provide an inexpensive update to any space. It’s easier to switch out a lamp base than a large chandelier.
6. What is your favorite lamp or string lights that you’ve used for a project?
I love the outdoor string lights we have hung across our back porch. They add such ambiance at night.
7. What is the greatest tip that you could give to our readers?
I always think decorating your home and spaces takes time. Fill it with the pieces you love, treasures from a flea market or trip and take your time! You don’t need to decorate your space in one day! Filling it with unique pieces that have meaning and tell a story is what makes a house a home.
8. What is the hardest thing about interior design?
I think is actually sharing! I am always hesitant at first to share a space or project because of what may or may not be said of the space! When you put your heart and time into designing a space, it’s hard to put it out there. I always want to inspire others in what I do!
9. If you had to do it all over again, what would you do differently?
Not a thing! I love what I do and am blessed at each opportunity that comes my way!
10. What do you think had the biggest impact on making your blog a success?
Putting yourself out there, sharing the design projects and honestly just keep being you every day! It is hard to come up with new content and to stay fresh but when you do what you love it comes easily.
We hope that you enjoyed the interview.
